Jakarta, Indonesia – In a groundbreaking event at the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (ISF) 2024, EarthPledge, an environmental initiative founded by Indonesian youth, launched its global platform aimed at fostering collaboration on environmental and sustainability efforts.
This platform seeks to connect community-driven projects with donors and supporters globally through advanced technology, ensuring that progress is not only visible but also measurable. The launch represents a major leap in supporting community-based environmental initiatives in Indonesia and beyond.
ISF 2024, inaugurated by President Joko Widodo, is recognized as Indonesia’s most significant annual event in the environmental and sustainability sector.
The forum gathers international figures and sustainability leaders, providing EarthPledge with the ideal platform for its global launch. This venue offers a unique opportunity for EarthPledge to reach environmental advocates and organizations from around the world, all gathered in one place to collaborate and address the planet’s most urgent challenges.
Christopher Ginting, the young founder of EarthPledge, shared his vision for a globally united effort to address environmental issues: “We live on one planet. The problems of our neighboring countries are our shared problems. EarthPledge facilitates collaboration so that environmental and sustainability challenges can be tackled hand in hand, by all parties and across all age groups.”
His initiative was born from observing that many community-driven environmental projects, particularly in remote areas, struggle due to a lack of financial support and access to expertise. At the same time, many individuals and organizations eager to contribute face difficulty in finding impactful initiatives.
The EarthPledge platform bridges this gap, connecting projects with resources and ensuring accountability through a transparent, global system.
EarthPledge’s launch has garnered significant attention and support from both local and international environmental organizations, including Project TERA, CarbonEthics, and Earth Security. These partnerships reflect the enthusiasm and trust in EarthPledge’s mission to advance environmental efforts on a global scale. One notable collaboration with Project TERA has already resulted in tangible action: the launch of a program to plant one million mangrove trees, starting on August 17th, 2024. This initiative not only contributes to reforestation but also supports the livelihoods of coastal communities by fostering a healthier ecosystem.
Shinta Kamdani, Vice Chairwoman of Kadin’s Maritime and Investment division, expressed her admiration for EarthPledge’s approach. “The spirit of change to protect the Earth is being addressed in the right way by EarthPledge. By creating an inclusive platform and utilizing sustainable technology, they ensure that progress is not only visible but measurable. This approach is essential to guarantee long-term impact and foster a real difference in addressing environmental challenges. This spirit of proactive action is exactly what the younger generation needs to carry forward, as they will be the ones facing the consequences of climate change in the future.”
The significance of EarthPledge’s initiative goes beyond planting trees or restoring ecosystems; it represents a new model for global environmental action. By harnessing the power of technology and creating an inclusive platform, EarthPledge ensures that efforts to combat environmental degradation are scalable and accountable.
The platform allows projects from all corners of the globe, particularly those in underrepresented and remote areas, to gain visibility and access to vital resources, while supporters can track the tangible impact of their contributions.
With EarthPledge now live, the call for action is clear: environmental and sustainability efforts are a shared responsibility, and through collaboration, real and lasting change can be achieved. This initiative invites everyone to become part of a global solution, where technology, innovation, and dedication converge to protect the Earth for generations to come.
